Beginning Corset Waist Training

24 Jan Corset Waist Training Guide

Historically corsets were used for body shaping and that is still a great reason to wear them today. Wearing a corset will keep you from overeating (as it is difficult to overeat when you are lacing tightly over the stomach) – think of it as a less intrusive form of stomach stapling.

What IS Waist Training?

According to Wikipedia: Tightlacing (also called corset training and waist training) is the practice of wearing a tightly-laced corset to achieve extreme modifications to the figure and posture and experience the sensations of a very tight corset. Those who practice tightlacing are called tightlacers. Some tightlacers call the corsets they wear training corsets.

I like this description – it’s clear, concise and to the point. And if you want to learn more about this process you can visit Wikipedia at the red link above. Here are some more tips and tricks when using a corset to waist training:

1. Put your shoes on before you put your corset on. (Try it the other way around and you’ll know what I mean).

2. Don’t drink carbonated beverages when laced into a corset. You will burp, and this is not lady-like.

3. Get someone to help you the first few times. It’s not that you cannot lace yourself into a corset, but just like getting a pedicure is so much nicer than painting your own toes, having help getting into a corset is much easier with an assistant.

4. Have at least two Waist Training Underbust Corsets – if you alternate between two corsets it gives them a chance to air out between wearings, and they will last longer and not need to be cleaned as often.

5. Get 3-5 Corset Liners or Corset Protectors. These cotton/lycra corset protecting tubes will protect your corset from sweat and odors and protect your body from the tight-fitting fabric of the corset. You will be more comfortable and your corsets will not need to be dry-cleaned as often…. so then….

6. Only ever Dry-Clean an Authentic Corset. Putting it through the washing machine is just a bad idea, and even hand-washing will ruin the layers of fabric by damaging the way the fabrics lay together.

Remember, these are simply a few basic guidelines for getting started. Please do more research (links included below), and never start any sort of diet or body modification process without first consulting with your physician or tattoo artist. (kidding on the tattoo artist portion)!
